General Election 2017

Prime Minister Theresa May called a snap general election last month to take place on 8 June. CHC has been working hard since the announcement on our plans for the General Election, and we will be coming together with a number of organisations under the Homes for Wales brand to call on the next UK Government to:

  • support a welfare system which ensures that everyone can access an affordable home.
  • support the construction industry so it can access the materials and labour it needs to build affordable homes.

There is more information in the pack below on the detail of our asks, the coalition members and information on how you can get involved. To help you in your conversations with candidates, we have also created an infographic which will give you some important information on the impact of welfare reform and Brexit on your business.

We have also recorded a short podcast introducing the campaign and exploring some of the welfare reform policies we will be discussing with political parties. Listen to the podcast here. Alongside this, we published a blog post shortly after the election announcement outlining our plans which you can read here

The main event for the campaign will be a hustings event taking place in Cardiff on 23rd May, chaired by BBC News’ Sian Lloyd, and featuring representatives from all four main parties. Tickets are available here

Please also head over to the Homes for Wales website, which has had a makeover, and tweet your support for the campaign here.

We will be holding a Day of Action on 31 May - more information to follow!
