Housing associations are independent, not-for-profit organisations whose core purpose is to provide affordable housing for those who need it. In Wales they provide around 165,000 homes and housing-related support to around ten percent of the population.
There are 36 housing associations or ‘registered social landlords’ in Wales. They are regulated by the Welsh Government and vary from small and specialist housing providers to large social landlords providing thousands of homes to people from all walks of life.
