Rural Housing

Rural Wales suffers from an acute shortage of affordable housing, with many people being forced to move elsewhere to find a home. While the lack of affordable housing isn’t the only problem facing rural communities, it is arguably the most serious as good quality affordable housing is fundamental in maintaining the balance of generations necessary to sustain a community.

In 2008, a Joseph Rowntree Foundation report set out recommendations in 14 areas of policy that could improve rural housing, and these underpin many of the aims and objectives of CHC’s work on rural housing. The report is available here:
