Smart Energy GB - Campaign to target over 65’s who are offline

Community Housing Cymru has been working with Smart Energy GB to promote the roll out of smart meters across Wales. We’re now entering the next phase of this partnership to ensure we’re really focusing on helping those who need the most help to understand the benefits smart meters can bring.

Many of you will have seen the recent Gaz & Leccy TV advertisements.  Audience research shows that people over 65, who are offline, are much less likely to engage with the campaign. This will include many of your older tenants, and we want to work with you to ensure the campaign reaches them to build confidence in this new technology so they can understand how easy they are to use and benefit from getting a smart meter.

Free Resources:
To help you reach these tenants, Smart Energy GB have a range of specialist resources in Welsh and English for you to download and use, including information leaflets and posters. The materials include key messages and benefits for people aged 65 and over, without personal internet access.  Some of these can also be ordered the Smart Energy GB's Resource centre.  Please do use the materials in your face to face engagement or distribute directly to households who are likely to be older people who could be offline.

To help you understand more about smart meters and the rollout there are also a range of useful educational films on Smart Energy GB’s YouTube channel.

If you want more information on why we’re targeting over 65's that are offline, or ideas on how to engage with them, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
