New CHC Commercial Partners: Insight HRC

New CHC Commercial Partners: Insight HRC

As part of a series of blogs on Community Housing Cymru’s new commercial partners for 26/27, Managing Director Pip Gwynn explains why Insight HRC has chosen to form a new partnership with our sector.

Why did you choose to become a CHC commercial partner?

Our values and approach to building cultures and developing leaders align closely with CHC and the Welsh housing sector.

With over 20 years of experience working with housing associations, as well as national and local government, health, education, and third sector organisations impacting housing, we deeply understand the sector. Our connections also extend to law and accountancy firms supporting housing. This knowledge, experience and values-alignment have established us as a committed partner to CHC's member organisations.

Evidence from delivering sessions at CHC events confirms our approach is welcomed and vital for supporting housing organisations to address their challenges. We have chosen to become a Community Housing Cymru Corporate Partner to support the sector and individual housing associations in developing the leaders and cultures needed to tackle the unprecedented and accelerating change of recent years and into 2026.

We believe that motivating, inspiring, optimistic and energised workplaces provide the best opportunity for housing professionals to deliver their best work.

We support this by working with leaders to create cultures where people are empowered, accountable, proactive and healthy.

What services do you offer?

We deliver bespoke, evidence-based solutions including leadership and management development, assessment, executive coaching, culture diagnostics and change, and team development. These are delivered through fresh, interactive learning methods and a human approach.

Our services include providing psychometric assessment for leader development and assessment, and developing a free Culture Map to help boards and senior teams analyse their culture and prioritise change. We deliver both ad hoc training and longer development programmes.

We have developed our NeuroTeams coaching approach for senior teams through our work in housing.  It involves working with senior teams to build exceptionally strong and trusted relationships that enable tough but necessary decisions to be made and change to be delivered, whilst sustaining energy and wellbeing.

This year we are launching two new leadership development programmes: one for strategic leaders and one for middle leaders.  Our approach to strategic leaders focuses on the skills, mindsets and approaches that senior leaders need to drive organisational change and tackle the challenges of our time.  We are reframing middle leaders as “connector leaders”, the engine of organisations that translate strategy into action, engage and enable teams, break down siloes and provide outstanding services for tenants and residents.

What contact have you had with the social housing sector so far?

We support the housing sector with services that develop leaders, leadership teams, and organisational cultures. Insight has been in business for over 30 years, working with housing for over 20 years.

During that time, we have worked with over 15 housing associations and well over 100 housing leaders and professionals.

In 2025, we co-created and delivered an award-winning management development programme at the Welsh Housing Awards.

We have supported housing organisations through significant changes including mergers, LSVTs, changes in key personnel and economic, political, strategic and cultural change.

We support them by developing strong executive and operational leadership teams to navigate integration challenges, through team and leadership development as well as one-off vision, strategy and team away days.

We have also helped various other teams manage change effectively and implement team meeting structures that boost collaboration and performance.

We also work with partners of the housing sector including local government, health, third sector and Welsh Government.  This gives us a wider understanding of the whole system and the challenges and opportunities it faces at this critical time.

How can Inisght HRC support housing associations in Wales?

We aim to strengthen our existing relationships and forge new connections within the housing sector.

By broadening our understanding of the sector's challenges and opportunities, we can improve our services. We propose partnering with CHC to co-create and deliver a leadership development programme for senior leaders and aspiring executives, which would support succession planning across the sector. We also want to support HR leaders in tackling challenges such as culture change and engagement.

This collaboration will offer new opportunities for us to deliver our services and enhance existing client work by pooling resources and facilitating peer-to-peer learning.

What are the key opportunities for the social housing sector in Wales and what role do you see your organisation playing in helping associations make the most of them?

Social housing is the key to overcoming so many of the challenges facing Wales that are driven by poverty and ill health.  Thriving communities where people live in secure, warm, energy-efficient homes, enable people to make the most of their potential.  We are always amazed by the commitment of the professionals in the housing sector in Wales to make a difference and to continue to find new ways to meet the needs of communities, despite the financial pressures they face.

We believe that motivating, inspiring, optimistic and energised workplaces provide the best opportunity for those committed professionals to deliver their best work.  We support this by working with leaders to create cultures where people are empowered, accountable, proactive and healthy.  These are hard things to achieve but our knowledge of the psychology and neuroscience that drives human behaviour can help housing associations to unlock even more potential in their people.
