Last chance to book your place at your Annual Conference 2016

Last chance to book your place at your Annual Conference 2016 “Creating the Narrative” #TheNextChapter.

Find out what Carl Sargeant, Cabinet Secretary for Communities and Children, has planned for affordable housing in Wales. Learn more about how housing associations will help Welsh Government fulfil its promise to deliver 20,000 new homes by 2021.

Be there when the Minister launches the Housing Supply Pact between Welsh Government, CHC and Welsh Local Government Association at “Creating the Narrative” on 1 /2 December at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff.

Carl Sargeant is also expected to say more about the decision by the Office for National Statistics to reclassify housing associations as public bodies. What will this mean for the regulation of the sector?

Other speakers include Helen White, Chair of the Regulatory Board for Wales, and Laura McAllister, CBE, Professor of Practice in Public Policy and the Governance of Wales at Cardiff University.

Darrell Smith from the Department for Work and Pensions will be speaking just days after the UK Government announced it is to cap housing benefit at Local Housing Allowance (LHA) rates. While, Tim Montgomerie, Political Journalist and Columnist for The Times, will give his post-Brexit view of the political scene.

And looking to the future - what is your view of the sector in 2036? Housing Horizons is your chance to have your say.

Wales’ football manager, Chris Coleman, will be the pre-dinner speaker. We are hoping for a further update on Gareth Bale following his recent injury.

We will also be announcing the winner of the Creating Captivity – Pat Chown Award 2016. The four finalists are Charter Housing Association, Newydd Housing Association, Rhondda Cynon Taf County Borough Council and United Welsh. Click here to find out more about their entries or here to watch a video about their projects.

Fifteen housing apprentices in teams of five will be taking part in the second Welsh Apprentice Challenge. Who will win? The decision will be yours on Day 2 of the conference.
