CHC's reaction to Lobbying Bill

Lobbying story on BBC site

In response to news of the Lobbying Bill, Community Housing Cymru’s Group Chief Executive Nick Bennett said: 'We are truly disappointed that the Lobbying Bill has been passed.

"The Bill will have serious implications on our lobbying work on behalf of our members around Wales and ultimately their tenants.

"The passage of this bill is a deliberate and outright attack on free speech, and misrepresents the purpose and intentions of regulated, accountable charitable bodies, who campaign on evidence-based policy.

"The full impacts of the bill will become apparent once we receive guidance from the Electoral Commission, but we have grave concerns that the government are inflicting unnecessary and unenforceable regulation on campaign groups, who play a key role in ensuring a vibrant democracy across the UK.'
