Calling all CHC members! Finance Conference and other events you don’t want to miss this autumn
As the trade body for housing associations in Wales, our mission is to give you, our members, the information, tools and networking opportunities you need to work effectively and have the biggest impact possible on your communities and the lives of your tenants.
At Community Housing Cymru, we design our events with all those who work with or at our member organisations in mind. Whether you are a board member, executive or a staff member working in finance, development or HR, there is something in our events calendar for you.
This autumn, we will be bringing housing associations and partners together for another one of our industry-leading conferences, and a variety of virtual specialist sessions and engaging face to face meetings.
On 3 and 4 October, delegates will have the chance to explore issues such as decarbonisation funding, building safety, resilience and business continuity at our 2024 Finance Conference.
This event, returning to the iconic Metropole Hotel in Llandrindod Wells for the first time since 2019, will allow officers, managers, directors and board members to gain valuable insight from high-profile speakers like renowned journalist and political commentator Daisy McAndrew.
Finance Conference is also a fantastic opportunity for you to network and get ready for our flagship event, Annual Conference, on 19 and 20 November in Cardiff.
In the coming weeks, you will also be able to join face to face discussions at our Member Community Meetups, designed to allow colleagues from across the sector to learn from each other, share best practice and ask questions in a safe space. These communities cover a wide range of topics, from finance to safety and communications.

Virtual spotlights and webinars
We know it isn’t always easy to take time away from the day job to learn and keep up to date. That is why we have created a programme of short online sessions that addresses the key priorities and areas of concern for housing associations.
Some of the biggest talking points we’ll be addressing through our spotlights and webinars in the coming weeks are the Welsh Language Standards, the move to Universal Credit and how to gather insights from tenants effectively.
For board members, it can be tricky to stay up to date and get involved in events on top of other commitments. As strategic thinkers and decision-makers in housing associations, it is essential for them to have easy access to key information.
That is why we have created the Board Learning Hub and our ‘board shorts’, a series of online briefings on big-ticket items. The next session in this series, for example, will see our policy team talki through the policy and legislative focus for the remainder of the sixth Senedd.
And speaking of learning, we will also be welcoming back Deborah Walthorne, who will be delivering our popular Introduction to Housing Associations course at the end of September. This training is a must for anyone who has recently joined the sector, as it provides fundamental knowledge around what a housing association is and how it operates.
You can book on to any of these events here.
We will be adding more events in the coming weeks, so keep an eye on our website and subscribe to our fortnightly CHC Bulletin when you create your account on the website to receive the latest event updates.
