CHC response to final debate on Welsh Government budget 2018/2019
The final debate and vote on the Welsh Government budget has taken place at the Senedd.
The budget includes a significant increase in the capital available for affordable housing, extra funding for homelessness and clarity over the future of Land Transaction Tax (previously Stamp Duty).Alongside this, the budget deal struck in October 2017 between Plaid Cymru and Welsh Government will protect the Supporting People budget at the current level of £124.5m over the next two years.
Stuart Ropke, Chief Executive of Community Housing Cymru said:
“We welcome this Welsh Government budget which will invest more than £300m in funding new affordable homes.
"The joint deal between Welsh Government and Plaid Cymru to protect Supporting People funding is also welcome. However, we are continuing to seek clarity on the future of Supporting People in light of the integration of a number of funding pots from April 2019.
"We will continue to work with Welsh Government to design a system of support and good quality accommodation provision that works for all those who need it.”
