Affordable Housing Taskforce report launched
We are pleased to have been a key contributor on the Affordable Housing Taskforce, which today published a report and recommendations for short, medium and long term solutions to deliver more affordable homes for the people of Wales.
Responding to the report Elly Lock, Head of Policy and External Affairs, said
“It is really great to see demonstrated in this report today the determination from the Welsh Government and its partners to deliver more affordable homes in Wales. Housing associations consistently deliver 75% or more of all new social homes in Wales each year, and are committed to doing more.
The recommendations address many of the major challenges that our members tell us they experience in trying to bring forward more new homes, in relation to the planning system, land availability, access to skills and their ability to offer new homes more quickly through acquisition and renovation.
We look forward to discussing these recommendations and the next steps further with the taskforce's chair, Lee Waters, at our One Big conference in July”.
