Who is this for?

Staff and board members who have recently joined a housing association and/or people from other organisations who wish to have an understanding of how housing associations work. This is a basic course and assumes little prior knowledge of housing associations.

Why should you attend?

Staff and committee members who have recently joined a housing association can find the wide range of policies, regulations and jargon a minefield. This course will help to simplify the role of and activities carried out by housing associations, as well as de-mystifying some of the jargon.

Course overview:

This course aims to provide participants with a wider understanding of the role housing associations play in providing social housing in Wales.

By the end of the course participants will have:

  • Examined the importance of involving tenants in the provision of social housing

  • Identified the key financial and legal issues facing housing associations

  • Discussed the history and governance of housing associations
