Silk Commission response calls for parity with Northern Ireland on welfare powers

Community Housing Cymru has today submitted evidence to the second part of the Commission on Devolution in Wales (The Silk Commission).

In our response, we have called for Welsh Government to have parity with the Northern Ireland Executive on powers over welfare reform. In Northern Ireland, these powers have seen the executive protect social housing tenants from many of the changes brought in by the UK Government''s Welfare Reform Act.

We have also echoed Welsh Government and the Wales Council for Voluntary Action's calls for a ''reserved powers'' model, as is currently in operation in Scotland.
