Response to UK Government Spending Round

Chancellor Sajid Javid MP delivered UK Government’s Spending Round statement for 2020/21. As part of the statement, an additional £600million was allocated to Welsh Government’s devolved budget.

Stuart Ropke, Chief Executive at Community Housing Cymru said:

"In uncertain economic times, we know that housing associations play a huge role in protecting and creating jobs while investing in communities, with £1.2billion invested across Wales last year and 23,000 full time jobs supported. We now need to see investment in new homes and housing-related support services remain a priority as Welsh Government decide how to spend £600m of additional funding.

Housing associations in Wales have ambitions to build 75,000 new homes and create 150,000 jobs by 2036, and earlier this year, an Independent Review of Affordable Housing recognised that additional investment was needed to meet that ambition."
