Plan to Remove Benefits for Under 25s Won’t Work

The plan announced yesterday by the Prime Minister David Cameron to remove all welfare benefits for under-25s is arbitrary, unfair and unworkable, says Community Housing Cymru.
The plans, taken together with existing measures to curb housing benefit payments for families with dependents, will simply push more young people into poverty and homelessness, and actually make it harder for them to access employment.
Amanda Oliver, Head of Policy at CHC said: "While we support the theory of "earn or learn" for most young people, cutting housing benefit for under-25s will simply push many into homelessness which makes it harder to "earn or learn.”
