Meet the Team: Terryanne O'Connell
What’s your name?
Terryanne O’Connell

Where do you work and what do you do?
I am the Admin Assistant for Community Housing Cymru. I have been working here for 8 months. My duties vary day to day depending on who needs my assistance ranging from assisting the Chief Executive to emptying the dishwasher. I am the one that will greet you with a smile and provide you with refreshments during your visit. I process your training and conference bookings and deal with any additional enquiries.

Why did you choose a career in housing?
After working for a telecommunications company for 16 years, I turned 40 and decided that I wanted a change in career. I saw the advert for the post and thought why not! I wanted to be part of an organisation that strives to support their members in improving the quality of homes for everyone.

What is the most important thing you have you learned since starting your career in housing?
How much housing associations actually do to help provide safe, affordable homes for communities.

Where would you be working, if not in housing?
More than likely still at my previous employment.

What’s your favourite part of the job?
I enjoy assisting the events and training team with the preparation and running of the conferences and training courses, I get to network and meet new people

What motivates you?
My children…..

How do you relax after work?
I don’t! My children keep me busy with their social activities but when I do get a moment to myself I do like to read or watch a film, I’m currently reading Disney’s Twisted Tales and am an avid Harry Potter fan.

What’s your greatest achievement?
I’ve just achieved my 5-year milestone in beating breast cancer

Your most embarrassing moment?
Crashing my car into my house!

What was your last holiday destination and what did you think of it?
Cala’n Brut, Menorca with my family. It was beautiful, and the cliff jumping was amazing, we thoroughly enjoyed it.
