Key CHC events to learn, share and connect in 2025

As we move into 2025, we have put together a schedule of online and face-to-face events on key topics designed to help you stay informed and help us shape our policy work. There are also some fantastic opportunities to learn from examples of good practice in the sector and connect with your peers.

Read on to find out what we have planned.

Governance Conference

On 26th and 27th March, we will be exploring the evolving legislative environment and looking beyond the sector to draw on examples of success that challenge our thinking and inspire us to continue to build a modern, effective and robust governance culture within Welsh social housing.

If you are chief executive, board member, governance practitioner or senior leader within a housing association, this conference is for you.

Tickets are now available on our website. There are only 100 spaces, so don’t miss the chance to grab yours.

When: 26 and 27 March

Where: Cardiff

Webinar Series: Talking about Homes

We have partnered with Shelter Cymru to host a webinar series with Natalie Tate from Nationwide Foundation and Joseph Rowntree Foundation's Talking about Homes project.

Through this series, Natalie will be sharing insights, guidance and tips designed to help organisations frame their communications and build greater public support for the action that’s needed to deliver quality homes for everyone.

When: 9, 15 and 21 January

Where: Online

Conversation on the future of rent setting

Joseph Rowntree Foundation has begun an exciting new research project exploring affordability for social housing tenants. As part of this work, it is looking at different models for rent setting, and using these insights to consider the trade-offs between delivery of much needed social homes and affordability.

In January, Darren Baxter will be hosting two online workshops to outline JRF’s work to date, and give CHC members the opportunity to add their thoughts to the debate on how a balance is best struck between affordability and financial viability.

When: 17 and 21 January

Where: Online

Spotlight sessions

Through these online events, we showcase programmes, initiatives and best practice from the sector, our partners and beyond. In the first few weeks of 2025, we will be talking about:

  • Upskilling tenants and communities with Adra
  • Tackling anti-social behaviour
  • Mental health and wellbeing
  • Poverty alleviation
  • Hafod’s neighborhood coaching model, and its refreshed approach to housing management.
  • Planning and design of social housing, with the Design Commission for Wales.

Dates and times for all of these events are listed on our website.

Catching up

Don’t have time to attend an event? We have created an online library you can catch up on the recordings of any spotlight sessions and webinars you may have missed.

Member Communities

These face-to-face events are a key opportunity for you to horizon scan, discuss key issues, share experiences and ideas, and network with colleagues from across the sector. Over the next couple of months, we’ll be bringing together three groups in Mid Wales:

Introduction to Housing Associations

If you have recently joined a housing association as a member of staff or a board member, our Introduction to Housing Associations course provides a solid overview and gives a well-rounded understanding of the role housing associations play in providing social housing in Wales.

Participants will have the opportunity to examine the importance of involving tenants in the provision of social housing, identify the key financial and legal issues facing housing associations and discuss how they are governed.

When: 23 and 24 January

Where: Online
