Housing and health come together against Covid-19
Adra, housing provider in North Wales has successfully partnered with Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board to increase testing of Covid-19 in Gwynedd and Anglesey. Here, Iwan Trefor Jones, Deputy Chief Executive of Adra explains how the partnership came about, and how the local community has benefited:
“Having recently invested in new technology to support remote working within the company, the transition to get staff to work from home because of lockdown worked very well for us. This meant that our main office space at Parc Menai, Tŷ Coch, Bangor became empty as soon as lockdown was announced.
We have worked to develop a good working relationship to support the NHS, which has included some exciting projects in innovative technology and keyworker accommodation.
Parc Menai is ideally placed in terms of layout and proximity to road networks and Ysbyty Gwynedd, so about 10 weeks ago, we worked with the health board to transform the offices into a Covid-19 testing site for NHS workers and local authority staff, and over 400 key workers in Gwynedd and Anglesey are now being tested on a weekly basis.
This all shows what we can all achieve and how we can add value when we partner up with other organisations.
We’re all so proud and glad at Adra that we’ve been able to provide a location for the NHS to complete their crucial work, while we are able to work from home.”
