Help us house the talents of young poets at the National Eisteddfod

To celebrate this year's National Eisteddfod in Powys, the Community Housing Cymru Group (CHC) is launching a competition to find a budding bard who can create winning verse.

CHC, the representative body for Welsh housing associations, wants children from schools throughout Powys to get involved in the competition and pen a poem on the theme –
‘What does home mean to you?’

Launching the competition, Group Chief Executive Stuart Ropke said: “Having a home is a basic need for us all, but ‘home’ can mean so many different things. Our competition aims to give young poets the opportunity to harness their creativity and to sum up in their own words just what ‘home’ really means to them. Poetry is personal but still allows shared experiences. This competition is a great way for school children to use their imagination to learn more about themselves and their abilities. I’m very much looking forward to reading the entries."

The winning poets and their entries will be invited to a special award ceremony at CHC’s Eisteddfod stand on 6th August. Their poems will be proudly displayed and recited by a very special guest.
