CHC response to Wales Audit Office report on housing adaptions

The Wales Audit Office has today released a report reviewing the delivery of housing adaptions in Wales.

Aaron Hill, Assistant Director of Policy and Public Affairs at Community Housing Cymru said:

“Housing associations play a vital role in delivering high quality housing adaptation services to thousands of people per year.

“We recognise that planning for a changing population is a challenge, but we are committed to ensuring that good housing is a basic right for all in Wales. Our Housing Horizons project, which focuses on planning for the future, has enabled us to identify barriers so that we can mitigate issues early on. This intelligence will help us work with our partners to deliver high-quality homes and services that suit the needs of our future population.

“We have already engaged with Welsh Government to develop the new adaptations system, Enable, which is working to address many of the issues highlighted by the Wales Audit Office report. We are also calling for a review of housing policy in Wales which will provide an opportunity to consider how we can improve the current system, including looking at different models and increasing cross-sector collaboration.”
