Everyone is welcome

At CHC, we are working hard to ensure our events not only reflect the diversity within our member housing associations and the communities they serve, but also celebrate it.

We are committed to providing spaces where all our delegates feel comfortable, valued and respected.

This includes designating spaces for religious practice and taking into consideration the needs of neurodiverse attendees.

There will be a dedicated prayer/quiet room, located near The Lab.

Please bear in mind this room will also be a meeting and phone call free zone. If you need to take an urgent work meeting, please let us know and we will do our best to guide you to a suitable space.

We are always learning and open to feedback, so if you have any comments, please do not hesitate to get in touch at enquiries@chcymru.org.uk

Code of Conduct

We kindly request that all event attendees adhere to our Code of Conduct

Purpose

The purpose of the code is to ensure that the experience of participants attending Community Housing Cymru (CHC) events is governed by principles of responsible and orderly conduct.

Scope

This code applies to delegates, CHC staff, commercial partners, exhibitors and any other persons attending conferences, seminars or meetings organised by CHC.

Code

CHC is committed to making its events productive and enjoyable for everyone, regardless of gender, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, race, nationality or belief. We will not tolerate harassment in any form. All delegates are expected to adhere to the following three main principles during an in person and virtual event:

  • Those who attend CHC should behave in a responsible manner which will not bring the reputation of themselves, their own organisation, the housing association sector and/or CHC into disrepute

  • Those attending CHC events will have respect for other delegates, exhibitors, speakers, workshop leaders, CHC staff and venue staff and other people within the vicinity of an event

  • Those attending events will need to comply with any reasonable requests made by CHC or hotel staff managing and running the event.

Examples

Breaches of the code might include:

  • Unwarranted disruption of sessions, workshops, dinner and other event activities

  • Sexual, racial or other forms of harassment

  • Threatening or violent behaviour

  • Abusive language

  • Abuse of alcohol or drugs

  • Lewd behaviour

  • A criminal act

Enforcement of the Code

CHC staff will take all reasonable steps to ensure compliance with the code and may seek the help of personnel from the same housing association or support from an appropriate authority if they feel the code is being breached. We will follow up any breaches of the code with appropriate action, which may include withdrawing the delegate from the event and/or informing the delegate’s organisation about the incident with action taken and details of any witnesses.
