Webinar: What impact will construction industry challenges have for Wales’ sustainable homes agenda?
In February 2020, the Welsh Government published ‘Re-imagining social house building in Wales: A Modern Methods of Construction Strategy for Social Housing.’ It sets out the expectations relating to the production of homes built using MMC, and aims to encourage housing associations to consider complimenting traditional construction methods with new technologies and approaches.
Yet, since the strategy was first published, the home development sector has been blighted with a myriad of challenges, from rising material costs to labour shortages. This discussion between sector experts reflects on how some of these challenges will impact the sustainable home agenda in the short and long term. The debate will also touch upon the implications for housing associations, including how can they work with the industry through the challenges.
