Post 2017 Election

Post-election, we will lobby to reduce the risks posed by Welfare Reform including Universal Credit, the Local Housing Allowance cap and Supported HousingWe will work with you to monitor and evidence the impact of these reforms and co-develop proposals that will provide mitigations and solutions.

Reclassification

In order to reverse the decision to reclassify the sector in Wales, we will work with you and the Welsh Government to shape the legislation needed to reverse this decision.

Affordable Housing Target

The sector has a key part to play in delivering the Welsh Government’s affordable housing target. We will help create the operating environment that enables you to build the homes your local area needs. This will include pressing for reforms to planning and land, continuing to make the case for public investment and influencing how the funding for innovative housing is spent.

For more information, please contact Clarissa.

Partnership Working

We will support local and national partnerships with colleagues in health, social care and local government and advocate for relevant changes to support you to build homes and provide services in communities where people want to live.

Brexit

We will work with the Bevan Foundation to understand the impact of Brexit on your business. We will then work with the Welsh Government so that they understand the impact on delivery to help inform their response to leaving the EU.

Housing Horizons

Working with you, we will set a vision for the future, through Housing Horizons, to lead the debate about the housing solutions that Wales needs over the long term.

Policy & Campaigns

Our policy and campaign work will be based on evidence of sector impact. Solutions and campaigns will be co-developed with the sector to actively support CHC’s lobbying and advocacy work on issues identified as priorities in the Corporate Plan.  You can read more about our approach here.

Public Affairs & Lobbying

We will build meaningful relationships between senior politicians and officials and the sector and provide you with support and advice on engaging with politicians at a local level.

We will ensure that the sector’s views are heard via representation and coordination on Welsh Government and other sector relevant groups. The full list of groups can be found here.

Our influencing and lobbying work will be carried out by our Policy and Public Affairs teams, supported by the communications team. To see who’s who at CHC, click here.
