Foreword

Thank you for your interest in becoming a Commercial Member at Community Housing Cymru (CHC). CHC has a long record of bringing together housing associations and companies to achieve mutual objectives, and we aim to build on that in 2016-17 with our new offer for commercial members.

We have listened to our commercial members, evaluated what value for money looks like for them, and considered how we can bridge the gap between companies and housing associations. This has resulted in our new and transformed commercial offer that allows packages to be tailored to each member, ensuring that all opportunities are maximised.

We value our commercial members and fully appreciate your support, which enables CHC to fulfil its purpose. As part of this new package, to ensure that this relationship continues and improves, you will be assigned a dedicated commercial member liaison who will meet with you twice per year to make sure your membership is achieving your goals. I look forward to meeting you in the future, and thank you again for your support. Stuart Ropke CHC Chief Executive

About Community Housing Cymru

Community Housing Cymru (CHC) is the representative body for housing associations and community mutuals in Wales, which are all not-for profit organisations.

CHC successfully influences policy and provides a unified voice, advocating and negotiating on behalf of our members, providing support as well as lobbying and influencing on issues important to them.

Value of the Sector

Housing associations are part of arguably the most successful private, public and third sector partnership in the UK and have the ability to leverage in private finance from a range of sources to deliver more for the people of Wales.

In 2014/15, housing associations directly spent £1.1bn and contributed over £2bn to the economy (directly and indirectly). 79% of this spend was retained in Wales. The

sector also spent £532m on regeneration activities. The number of homes provided by the sector has grown by nearly 70% since 2008, with housing associations now providing a home or a housing related service to 10% of the Welsh population.

By becoming a commercial member, you will be making the decision to give your business access to one of the largest sectors in Wales.
