It seems strange to talk about low demand when the national media is obsessed with housing shortages, but like so many other issues, the national picture sometimes obscures regional differences. Here in Bradford we experience high tenancy turnover and low demand for some of our stock, and we are increasingly questioning the effectiveness of social lettings for both meeting need and enabling us to occupy properties in a timely manner.
The latest in our series of blogs focussing on innovative approaches to the delivery of housing focusses on the model being undertaken by LoCal Homes, part of Accord Housing Association, a major housing and social care provider, who work in the Midlands and manage 13,000 affordable homes and social care to 80,000 people.
Today we’ve released a briefing, in association with the Home Builders Federation and the Federation of Master Builders, designed to highlight a number of constructive ideas which would enable our respective members to overcome issues in the planning system. The paper has been shared with those Cabinet Secretaries who can influence the way we work, as well as with key individuals at Welsh Government, the WLGA and other related bodies.
