Mark Harris, Planning & Policy Advisor Wales, for the Home Builders Federation blogs about the jointly released briefing paper ‘Planning for 20,000 Homes’:
The latest in our series of blogs focussing on innovative approaches to the delivery of housing focusses on the model being undertaken by LoCal Homes, part of Accord Housing Association, a major housing and social care provider, who work in the Midlands and manage 13,000 affordable homes and social care to 80,000 people.
Today we’ve released a briefing, in association with the Home Builders Federation and the Federation of Master Builders, designed to highlight a number of constructive ideas which would enable our respective members to overcome issues in the planning system. The paper has been shared with those Cabinet Secretaries who can influence the way we work, as well as with key individuals at Welsh Government, the WLGA and other related bodies.
The Housing Horizons Data Resource, recently published by Community Housing Cymru, provides an important insight into the ways in which changing demographics, as well as social and economic factors, will impact upon housing supply and services in Wales by 2036.
