Beaufort Research findings

Beaufort Research - final report

Ymchwil Beaufort - Adroddiad terfynol

Beaufort Research delivered the final report to the CHC steering group behind the “A Conversation With” on 12 January. They informed the group that the telephone survey of Chief Executives generated an 85% response rate, which they explained they had never seen such a high level of participation in previous surveys. So once again our thanks go to all our members for taking part in this important exercise.

National Council have welcomed the findings, were encouraged by the feedback and were keen for all members to see the full final report, which is attached for your information. I would be grateful if you could pass a copy on to your board and staff members. It is also being sent out to all National Council members and Group subsidiaries, Care & Repair Cymru and CREW.

Following on from December’s National Council meeting, the following Task and Finish Groups – along with the areas that they’ll be looking at, have been set up to carry forward the main issues coming out from the report.

Governance

Issues such as the clarity of role and purpose, structure and representation, communication and effectiveness will be addressed.

Lobbying and representation

Look to further strengthen the lobbying activity of the organisation, deepen our knowledge of the sector and look at our engagement with key stakeholders.

Communication and Engagement with members

Looking at issues such as what we communicate, to whom and through which channels – is it effective and targeted? Develop a programme to engage with members to develop relationships further.

Learning

Issues such as the format, role and number of forums and networks, conference and training provision and the opportunity to hold strategic debates across disciplines will be addressed.

We have already made some progress on some of the key areas of the report:

  • Member engagement: We need to get the most out of working with each other and to do this we’ve allocated a member of CHC staff to each organisation as a key contact point who will be in touch over the coming weeks. We will also be looking to arrange for CHC staff to get involved with some of your projects and services, contributing to your business whilst also building in-house experience and knowledge.
  • Increasing capacity: To respond to the challenges facing the sector we are recruiting two new posts - a  Policy Officer, focusing on care, support and community health, and a Regeneration Officer.
  • Governance: You can now view our National Council papers ahead of meetings and feed in any comments via council members or CHC staff.
  • Job advertising on our website: Our jobs pages are the most viewed on our website and we now provide this service free of charge to members.
  • Networks and forums: From now on, agendas for CHC meetings will be made available to all so that people choose to attend on the basis of the agenda, not the title of the event.

We hope you all see the benefit from these changes immediately and welcome any feedback. If you have any comments, please contact sioned-hughes@chcymru.org.uk.
